Hello! Here is the next in the "Armour of God" series - helmet of salvation. If your children have not made a decision to follow Jesus, and accept the gift of salvation, or if you are unsure if they have done so, this is the perfect moment!

Overarching Verse - This is the verse to memorize during this entire series, however, there will be other daily verses that you could work on as works for your family.
Ephesians 6:11-17 - Put on the full armor of God,so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powersof this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God,so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvationand the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Read
Hebrews 11:10-18, John 10:28-29, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, John 3:16, Revelation 3:20
The helmet of salvation is a unique piece of armor. The Bible says, "I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand." (John 10:2-29). Isn't that so comforting?! So the helmet of salvation is different than all others in regards to the fact that we don't ever have to put that back on. It is ours, we are held! When you make a true heart commitment to the Lord, you can be assured that salvation will be yours all the days of your life.
When we put on that helmet of salvation, we are putting on Christ. In the "Watch the Lamb" video, we see a depiction of Jesus, the lamb, and what he went through for us. Did you know that He died in our place? You might be wondering what that means. Well the Bible says that ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Rm. 3:23) And it also says that the wages (the price of that sin) is death. (Rm. 6:23) We deserve death because of our sins. But God loved us so much that He sent Jesus, His son to die in our place. (John 3:16) Can you imagine that? Let's put it into an everyday situation. Pretend you were at school and you had a really big test that you didn't prepare for. You decided to bring in a cheat sheet, some notes to help you get through. It fell on the floor and the teacher picked it up. She asked who's it was. You sat there, unable to admit it. You were terrified about what might happen. Would you have to go to the Principal's office? Would they call your parents? What would they do? Would you be grounded? Suspended? In the midst of all of these thoughts, your friend admits to doing it. That friend took the punishment that you deserved.
That situation is so little compared to the our situation of life or death. Jesus took our place! It wasn't just a walk in a park for him either. The video shows how he was beaten, yelled at, mocked, hated...and so much more that they didn't describe. IT WAS PAIN! HE FELT IT ALL! For YOU!
As parents we don't like to see our children suffering. Sometimes it is tempting to bail you out of difficult times, to give you the answers, and to make life easy for you. It would be easy for God to say, "You are all saved!" (That's what He wants, you know.) But He doesn't do that for us. He offers the gift of salvation out to us. It is ours for the taking. Revelation 3:20 says, "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me."
If you haven't yet decided to accept that gift, to open that door, will you consider doing that today? When we accept the gift of salvation, we are telling God that we know that we need HIm, that we have sinned, and are in need of a savior. It doesn't have to be anything fancy. Take this time now to talk with God and express your need of Him.

Discussion Questions
1. Have you ever felt like you were unsure of your salvation?
2. Have you ever prayed that prayer, confessing your need of a savior? If not, consider doing it today, Pledge your allegiance to the lamb who was slain for you. (See video below). If you have taken that step already, how bold have you been? Are you ready to take a pledge of allegiance and let people know where you stand?
3. Once we are saved, God tells us to go into all the world, Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth proclaiming that He is Lord. The reason He states these specific places, is to help us understand that we don't have to go to any particular spot to proclaim it. It's like saying, do it in your community/ your city, your state, your nation, and to the ends of the earth. How might you do this in your community, your state, your nation, etc?

Prayer
As you go to prayer as a family, take this time to think about where you are at. Have you made a commitment to a relationship with Jesus? Have you accepted His gift of salvation? Have you pledged your allegiance in such a way that those around you know where you stand? If not, now is the time to make that commitment (recommitment). Jesus only wants one thing from you...YOU! Whole-heartedly you. Take some time to think, share, and pray as a family.
